Bienvenido Santos' use of memory or, rather, a fictionalized memory evokes empathy for his characters. He had always been inside the character and felt their pain. He also believed that it is important for the writer to feel compassion for his characters. His way of writing acquire the perspective of local fiction and for us to be able to completely undestand the significant of our own history.

Carlos Bulosan as a national writer, played an important role in Philippine Literature. As I Started studying his life and works, I begin to appreciate his contribution in our history as a writer. His works became significant for it gives inspiration to everyone who will start reading his works. As an ordinary person whose position in life belongs to the majority, he set an example. He used his personal experiences in order to introduce the Philippines' culture, community, people and way of life. having him is a great priviledge.

how i define literature...

Memories are worthy to be remembered. That is literature for me. They are like high school memories that are kept treasured in each other's heart. They are miniature fireworks that light up and add color to life. We may forget it much when life seems busy but the pictures and other simple mementos left in us will serve as a present reminder that the past is still part of the future of the present and future... Like in literature, many people keep on trying how will they give its definite meaning. But sadly, up to now, it is still an issue. Yes, literature is worhty to be remembered. It is the product of one's own personal experience. It is full of special ingredients meant to be appreciated and treasured for a lifetime. Some may not give its importance, but this masterpiece will continue to speak saying, "I'm your past, present and even your future."
